Tannins vegetable for enology
The use of tannins in enologies is historically well established, due to the important properties these substances are able to transfer to wine and the benefits they provide, including in vineyard treatments.
Colatan GT-4
Available from the represented Unitan is a 100% vegetable tannin-based product, Colatan GT-4, specifically for the wine industry and derived from the processing of the Quebracho Colorado plant, which grows exclusively in Argentina. Due to its own characteristics, Colatan GT-4 gives wine special features that other vegetable tannins do not possess:
– Color: Colatan GT-4 is able to enhance and stabilize red color, while reducing browning
– Astringency: the formulation has been fine-tuned to give wines the typical astringency obtainable from aging in Oak barrels (boisage)
– Clarification: Colatan GT-4 facilitates the precipitation of soluble proteins, thus enabling wines, both red and white, to be perfectly clear and of a high quality standard.
– Reactivity with sulfur compounds: Colatan GT-4 is an excellent aid in the absorption of sulfur dioxide and thiols
produced during fermentation.
