FIGLI DI GUIDO LAPI

Our story

in 1928 young Guido Lapi acquired in Santa Croce sull’Arno a sub-branch from Forestal London, a global leader in the production and trade of Quebracho and Mimosa wood tannins. Guido’s father, Francesco Lapi – founder of what would become the Lapi Group S.p.A. – had opened a wooden matchstick factory in Santa Croce sull’Arno in 1884. The partnership with Forestal London has grown rich over the years. It became a cornerstone for the foundation of Figli di Guido Lapi. This company was established in 1951 by Guido’s three sons Francesco, Mario and Dino. In 2021 the Lapi Group celebrates 70 years of prosperous activity.

The Lapi Group was founded in 1951 with the name Figli di Guido Lapi. Over the past 70 years, this family-run business has evolved into a modern industrial group. The holding company now includes three chemical manufacturing firms, two facilities producing gelatin for pharmaceutical and food applications, a tannery specializing in leather for shoe soles, a creative company focused on finishing treatments for fashion products, and several service companies that support the entire Lapi Group.
With a rich history and strong heritage, the Lapi Group has successfully evolved over the decades while maintaining a solid structure, consistent principles, and a deep bond with its local community. The Lapi family continues to lead the Group. The family ensures its values and work ethics. This family-driven approach is formalized in a shared Value Charter that guides all the Group’s companies.
